We open the mailbag and read your boostagrams. I share some Podhome stats (3,081 all‑time downloads; 2,042 “unique” listeners) and we talk through what those numbers really mean. Then we swap shipping war stories: UPS vs. PO Boxes, SurePost handoffs to USPS, claims purgatory, and why for PO Boxes you should usually default to USPS. We also kick around Canadian cross‑border shipping, cacao logistics with Bitcoin Beans, and why a dollar or two of insurance can save your bacon.
From there, we get opinionated about personalized packaging—handwritten thank‑you notes, proof‑of‑humanness, and keeping the small‑town Nostr vibe. Market Square shout‑out goes to Satoshi Coffee (I use it in my coffee‑crunch hodl butter). We wrap with baseball kid‑league updates, old‑school gaming. You are the algorithm—send boosts, notes, and movie picks!

That's what she said. Hello, and welcome to the YadUp podcast where you are the algorithm. I am Permanerd, and that lovely riff on the guitar was perpetrated by my good friend, Oshi. How are doing, man? I'm doing good. I love your vocabulary.
[00:00:43] Oshi:
Vocabulary.
[00:00:44] Permanerd:
Easy for me to say as of late. I like your pronunciation.
[00:00:48] Oshi:
I like your pronunciations. I'm doing good though. Doing good. Sun's out. Made some butter today. Finally found my package that was missing in UPS' hands, so can't can't complain.
[00:01:00] Permanerd:
Nice. Yeah. It's, it's cooled down here significantly over the last couple days. We have a, soft sided pool, which I've spent way too long putting back up because I took it down last year. And then the the filter was broken, so I had to buy a new filter for it, like a pump. And yada yada yada, that's what I've been doing. That sounds like fun. Oh, it's a it's a good time. Yeah. This is a a podcast where you are the algorithm. You decide whether you want to listen, and you can also put your 2¢ in by sending us an email at sayhi@youarethealgo.com or even better by reaching out on Noster or sending us a boostagram using any two point o or podcasting two point o enabled app. Fountain, for instance, is a good one to be able to send small amounts of Bitcoin or large amounts of Bitcoin. We're not discriminatory about the size of the Bitcoin that you send.
And along with that, you can attach a a note which we were are very happy to read. And so we're gonna we'll start with that. And the first one is 333 from Sir Libra. Nice. And it's a the message is it's a test to yadda via boostmebitch.com using Albihub via Albi extension. So the the boostmebiatch.com is I looked at it a bit, is a website where you can go and and boost podcasts just using the Albie extension. And I think there's other methods as well, so you don't even need a podcast player. You can go on it's a a web app and and do that. So that's something that's pretty interesting. I've been chatting with Sir Libra and Chad f over on found or on Noster about trying to get a way to get the boost directly to Noster so that you and I can see them a little bit easier.
[00:03:15] Oshi:
Mhmm.
[00:03:16] Permanerd:
Yeah. Ideally, fountain Verification. Yeah. Ideally, fountain would be would have the a way that you could just add our end pubs so that every time that a boost is sent through them, it would tag us on Noster. But just another way to to engage a little bit easier with with people that are listening and and want to or, you know, they send us messages. And the next one is 99 sat sats from bullish clips on Fountain as well. And it says, it's me, bullish. I'm I'm not sure if Fountain supports signers on iOS now, but I created this NPUB a while back as a security measure. Nowadays, I primarily use it to boost and post audio clips from time to time. Keep up the great work, gents.
Right on. Is bullish? Yeah. That answers that question. And it proves that bullish is listening, so thank you, sir.
[00:04:15] Oshi:
Definitely.
[00:04:17] Permanerd:
And then we got 300 sats from, I'm sorry, Palmyra. And I I know who you are and I see you and we and I appreciate all the interactions on Noster, but I don't know how to pronounce it. I'm dumb.
[00:04:34] Oshi:
That's okay. I just call her Pam.
[00:04:36] Permanerd:
Paul Palm Palmyra. Palmyra. That's what I'm going with. And it says, student loans, fuck them. Listen to yada. Information deserving of Bitcoin. Yeah, that's awesome. Thank you. That that made me laugh. And then the next one is 300 SATs from Logues, also through Fountain. And And it says nine inch nails playing in the background around the minute fifty three.
[00:05:07] Oshi:
Yeah. That was the weed whacker. Sorry, guys. But then
[00:05:13] Permanerd:
I I sent a message back on Noster, and then he said something about a, like, a lawn care service. So I don't know if he's got supersonic hearing and and heard, like, somebody whisper the name of the the lawn company that was that was working or what. Logs, hit hit us up again. Let us know. Please explain
[00:05:37] Oshi:
what you meant by that. Maybe that was just him outside. Maybe.
[00:05:44] Permanerd:
Nice. That's fantastic. So thanks for that. And then we got ten thirty three stats from Jim Seifert on Fountain. And it says, hope everyone that hears this starts a business, Bitcoin only or not. Start a business and reduce your tax liability. And then maybe you could help me with this one, Oshi. The the hashtag s m I j. S m I j? Yeah. I've seen it around No idea, actually. What the hell is that? Especially from Jim. He uses it a lot. So much I love. So much information junior?
[00:06:24] Oshi:
Or something. Or I j? Yeah. I have no idea. It's better than g f y.
[00:06:34] Permanerd:
So, Jim, send us an explanation for that. I've seen it for years now from from your post and everything, and I'd I I'm again, I'm not very smart. I'm not very smart. And there's another one, another $10.33 from from Jim. This one's for Wow. Fearless circular economy. The last one is for abominable farewell. But this is this is fun stuff. Keep up the good work. And then another hashtag s m I j. Awesome. Thank you. That's sick. That is. Yeah. Jim's active. It's nice.
[00:07:11] Oshi:
And then there's because we just kinda ramble. We ramble on. At least I do. And so it's cool to hear people listening at least. Oh, yeah. For sure. We're not farting. We're not farting against thunder.
[00:07:22] Permanerd:
And then there's 420 sats from undisciplined, and it says for those who follow sports. And then there's a link to the show, and that's from Be The Hemoglobin. So apparently, we're a sports talk show as well. I was I'm unaware of this. Yeah. I don't recall talking about sport ball. Maybe baseball.
[00:07:42] Oshi:
We can Oh, yeah. You're right. We'll talk we'll probably talk about baseball. And then the next one is 555
[00:07:49] Permanerd:
stats from Bemis on Fountain as well. And it just says, loving the yada. Well, I'll tell you what, I'm I'm loving the Bemis.
[00:07:57] Oshi:
Yeah. Bemis is a legend.
[00:08:01] Permanerd:
And then another four twenty stats from undisciplined. And it says Nice. Have you guys looked into xenohormesis? Oh, yeah. I remember reading that comment. And I've wanted to since I saw that comment, but I have not. It's something to do with the makeup of plants and the locality or something, I think.
[00:08:24] Oshi:
I think it has to do with natural environmental stressors on plants that just help them grow more quickly. I don't know about where the xeno comes from, but I know the word hormesis. But, you know, I'm not a scientist or smart. I ain't smart. I ain't too smart. I'm just curious. Well, know that some plants when
[00:08:45] Permanerd:
you know, if you want a flower to bloom, if you stop watering it, then it's going to bloom quicker because it thinks it's dying and it needs to make seeds as much as possible.
[00:08:57] Oshi:
Exactly. That's what I understand hormesis to be. For for human beings too, It's the same effect.
[00:09:05] Permanerd:
Okay. Cool. And then 500 stats from my good friend, Ivor Tola. And he says more laughs than the prince of tides.
[00:09:18] Oshi:
Yeah. We do laugh a lot.
[00:09:20] Permanerd:
And I had to actually look that up because I remember the prince of tides. And so I wasn't sure if he was talking mad trash or if that was actually a saying that was positive, and it turns out that that it is a positive saying. Because The Prince of Tides is not a funny movie. So Oh, I've never seen it. Yeah. It's I think it's pretty dark, if I remember correctly. And so I think the more laughs of the prince so, I mean, one laugh is more than zero, I guess. But, apparently, it's a fairly popular statement for something that is funny. So New to me. Thanks, Ivor.
Thank you. And that rounds out all the boosts that I have on here. And we appreciate it because we are using these boosts at the at the moment to pay for Pod Home, which is where we are hosting. And Pod Home, if you're listening, I sent a note on Noster that we'd like to pay monthly instead of one big fat yearly sum, but I haven't heard back. Yeah. So anybody has any contact with Pod Home, that'd be interesting to know if they would create lightning addresses or lightning invoices for monthly payments.
[00:10:36] Oshi:
They definitely should. You would think so. Yeah. Reduce the friction, man.
[00:10:42] Permanerd:
That's right. We wanna give you stats. Take mystats.com.
[00:10:46] Oshi:
Take my stats. Check it out. Open
[00:10:49] Permanerd:
a shop. Bullish. Speaking of speaking of Pod Home, it's also we host and they also produce quite a few metrics, are interesting to look at. And so the the all time downloads for the show are 3,081, and that includes 2,042 all time unique listeners. And so take this with a grain of salt because, I mean, how do they count this? And, you know, if one person Yeah. Somebody downs little bit bit bit bit bit bit downloads it from from Apple, whatever it is, podcasts, and then downloads one from Fountain, you know, it's probably two unique listeners, I would imagine.
[00:11:37] Oshi:
So It might be a bit inflated. It may be. But So we can probably reduce it down maybe 20%.
[00:11:44] Permanerd:
Sounds as arbitrary as it sounds as arbitrary as anything. Yeah. So the the downloads per episode, the last one was titled be the hemoglobin, and we've had 509 downloads over Wow. Yeah. So that was put out a week ago. I think a week ago tomorrow. And then the two before that are 731 downloads and 746. So pass the word. Let's get this up to a thousand. That would be pretty Yeah. Pretty sweet.
[00:12:21] Oshi:
That'd be really cool. And We're getting there. At least it's consistent somewhat. It is. No. It is. And and thank you everyone who is listening. We truly appreciate it. Yeah. It's cool. Definitely send in more questions and see how we can refine the structure at all or if it's fine or send them in. And we've got a couple
[00:12:40] Permanerd:
couple countries added to the bottom. So now the the bottom two are Venezuela and Slovakia. Cool. And Vanuatu is right above there, but my friend, Ivor Tola, he sent me a message saying that it might be him because he's in he's in New Zealand, but he uses a VPN. And they might have a VPN in Vanuatu. However, that I don't know why there'd be a VPN in Vanuatu. But That makes sense. And we haven't heard about we haven't heard from anybody in Vanuatu. So if you we don't hear from you, you don't exist. Yeah. That's those are are the numbers.
And there's one other stat that we that we missed last week that we like to do, and that is the the Lykem Jar.
[00:13:35] Oshi:
Oh, man. I forgot about that. Alright.
[00:13:39] Permanerd:
Let's hear it. Let's hear it. I for one, I I didn't get haven't done last episode, but I did get episode four. And Uh-huh. It it's it's quite impressive. I think we're doing really well here. I'm sure. And as for the you,
[00:13:57] Oshi:
Ocean I probably have the most. It's it's pretty tight, though. You
[00:14:02] Permanerd:
you had more words than I did for the first time.
[00:14:06] Oshi:
No way. Nice work. That's crazy. I don't believe it. I think I took a nap in the middle.
[00:14:11] Permanerd:
Yeah. Maybe. So there you had 4,995 words with only 14 fillers, which gives you a filler percent of point two eight. And that's one and 12 likes.
[00:14:25] Oshi:
Okay. I can deal with that. And that's an hour's worth? That's pretty good. That is pretty good. And then I had 419
[00:14:31] Permanerd:
no. 4,919 words, eight fillers for a percentage of point one six, and that's one and seven likes.
[00:14:40] Oshi:
Okay. Yeah. We're doing pretty good. I mean, compared to if you just hear regular people speak on the street, they're using it like every cent, you know, every word.
[00:14:49] Permanerd:
And we're we're getting better. That's all we can ask for. Right? You Right. You are the algorithm. You control what you say and how you say it. Yep. And just be being I like it just because it it does make me mindful of of speech. It's so easy to to just ramble and just throw in as much it's just as much garbage. Yeah. Like, a lot of the speech you hear has has more fillers than a McDonald's hamburger.
[00:15:18] Oshi:
Oh, nice. That's true, though. Yeah. Cool.
[00:15:23] Permanerd:
I think that is, though. I think that is unless you've got anything else to add, I think that's about all we've got for for stats and and numbers. I
[00:15:34] Oshi:
like it. I think that's good.
[00:15:36] Permanerd:
Cool. That was a good episode. We'll catch everybody next week on
[00:15:40] Oshi:
Alright. Yada. See you guys. Gotta keep it short. Next segment. Next segment. Next segment is
[00:15:54] Permanerd:
What?
[00:15:57] Oshi:
I don't know. There is some shipping stuff we were gonna talk about, I think. Oh, yes. Okay. You've got a a shipping story. Let's hear it. Yeah. It's not real. I mean, I guess it's a bit of a story. It's a bit of a and a a headache, you know, dealing dealing with with this this kind kind of of stuff. Stuff. Let's see. And I actually learned a lesson from this. Let me put the guitar down real quick. It's getting serious. It's getting serious. But I actually did learn something from this mishap here. Two orders actually because I helped manage Bitcoin Beans orders here so I had one package going to our friend Alice and then another package for me going to Alice. So both of them were going to our friend Alice and she has a PO Box.
And I thought that maybe you could send packages from UPS to PO Boxes because I'm pretty sure I've done that before because UPS, if you don't know, they have a SurePost option where you ship via UPS and then USPS takes it up at the end for the final delivery. So they're able to go to the PO Box. But for whatever reason, that didn't happen. So they returned it to me and as it was being returned I didn't know where it went because it just because I processed it through UPS and I checked the UPS portal for a tracking number it said it was returned. I was like okay, well it must be at one of the UPS locations.
Literally went around to three different UPS locations. None of them had it. None of them had good information to tell me. And you know, this is like really annoying to go through and try and find your pretty large package that you sent to this person and it's missing still so I had to call UPS the next day and I was on the phone with them for an hour. I had a claim going. I think the claim is still going. I think it's going to be cancelled but yeah it was just very much of a headache so I ended up having to go to USPS because UPS told me that it's definitely there. So we I went twice actually. The first day I spoke with the supervisor, she was super cool and she was gonna say, Oh yeah, I'll call you back because I know it's here. It says that it's here.
I was like, Alright, I'll leave it in your hands. I trust you. And I never heard from her. I still haven't heard from her for the Bitcoin beans one. But I went back the next day and luckily I found my package which was like a 16 pound box of butter to Alice. And yeah, it it was just such a just such a roundabout annoying thing to go through. Shipping stuff is so annoying sometimes but lesson learned if you're shipping to a PO box, don't use UPS. Just use USPS. So
[00:18:47] Permanerd:
lesson learned there. Yeah. The shipping is definitely the most fiat part of the whole process, at least for me. Yep. There was I've got a package somewhere in in Limbo that was Oh, still? Yeah. It's supposed to go to to Fallu. And so they sent it on, I think, April 14. Took it in post office, and then I was going to check the the tracking. And it said that it was delivered on March 26 or something like that. So, basically, it took minus three weeks to deliver, and they delivered back in time. And so I also have a ticket in with the post office, and I have no idea where that stands or what is going on.
And it just makes it makes no sense. Did you get on the phone with anybody? I have not yet. I've I opened Good up luck. Yeah. I opened up a ticket. Yeah. I've gone through that as well. There's one other shipping story was during right when the the tariffs really started picking up and everything changed. Before that, I could just ship and everything was fine. And then all of a sudden, some of the couriers weren't taking certain products over now and and everything else. And so I got two packages returned. I I sent them from where I'm at, and they got to a border town.
And then they rejected them and shipped them back
[00:20:21] Oshi:
because of Was it because of the same kind of thing that that I was describing? Were you shipping to a PO box? No. It was about the weight or the size of the the boxes. Oh. And it said that one of the boxes
[00:20:32] Permanerd:
was, like, six kilograms. And I'm shipping freeze dried fruit, and it ends up being about 500 grams, so half a kilo. And so it made no sense. And then it said one of the boxes was, like, twice the size of box. And then I ended up being charged I think it was about a $110 each box that were actually returned and not even delivered. And and then I was I was fighting them and everyone and I eventually just had to eat the eat it and reship the packages. Wow. So What pure shipping service do you That was pure labor. What shipping service? Which I think is a Canadian.
I don't remember ever seeing it in The States. But now when I'm shipping to The States, I just use Canada Post, and it's a bit more expensive. But they actually ship because a lot of the other ones still won't won't ship, fruit products even if they're freeze dried. So Canada Post does the same thing, though. They they ship it down there and then pass it off to USPS. And then it's just up to I mean, just have to close your eyes and hope
[00:21:38] Oshi:
kinda Yeah, man. It's it's such a pain especially especially when you have to get on the phone with them and sometimes you can't even understand the individual. Like my case, it was and and he was super helpful. It was, you know, a higher up guy, but it was it was really difficult to understand him. So, yeah, it's just such a rigamarole.
[00:21:57] Permanerd:
Oh my gosh. And then even even so, you know, if if it is lost and then what they
[00:22:03] Oshi:
give you your money back or something, but that's not If you have insurance, do you usually put insurance on your packages?
[00:22:09] Permanerd:
I don't. I don't even know if they maybe they they have use I usually send it tracked package, and so maybe there is some sort of I mean, it asked for the value of the package. So I don't know. Haven't had to do it yet. Yeah. Sometimes they do include it. I know UPS has,
[00:22:28] Oshi:
what is it, included a $100 insurance up to a certain weight or something. But lately for when I send larger boxes, I put insurance on it. It's maybe an extra dollar or 2 depending on the weight. But I've just had maybe one or two cases where they just mishandle it and it's like smashed or run over literally from one case. Luckily I had insurance on it. But it definitely doesn't hurt to just tack that on especially if it's just an extra dollar or so just for the peace of mind. So, Falu, if you're listening,
[00:23:06] Permanerd:
I'm I'm working on it, man. And I will, I'll probably end up just creating a new package and and sending it. And it's just unfortunate because I had I had a special a little special gift in their form that I don't have any more of as well. So Man, that hurts. Which is easy to say when someone's not gonna get the pack. Man, I had $75,000 in there for you, but it's gone.
[00:23:32] Oshi:
Well,
[00:23:33] Permanerd:
sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. While we're on the the subject of of shipping, I've been in contact with with Bitcoin Beans, and Oh. There's not there's not quite the the demand for shipping within Canada yet. So if you're within the the the range of my voice here, and you're in Canada and you're looking for Bitcoin Beans, let me know. Let Bitcoin Beans know, and we're trying to work out a shipment up here that I could distribute in Canada. And let me know, because I actually do processing the ship the shipments. And let Oshi know. Let everybody know. Just go outside and scream it to the world. Yeah. Outside. Go outside. Yell it.
[00:24:18] Oshi:
I want cacao. Cacao now.
[00:24:24] Permanerd:
Well, we're we're also looking Cacao now. When do we want it?
[00:24:29] Oshi:
What do we want? We want it now.
[00:24:33] Permanerd:
Well, I the thing is it might be cheaper to ship it from Colombia than from The US into Canada.
[00:24:40] Oshi:
That's
[00:24:41] Permanerd:
a twist. Yeah. It is a twist, and it's just ridiculous. But we'll see. I I mean, it would be great to to do. So, again, if you if you're interested in in it,
[00:24:53] Oshi:
let it let it be known. Because also also let him know soon because, I know he's gearing up for another shipment to me, so it may be helpful to him to, I don't know, package up a little something separate for for you. But, you know, just something to think about.
[00:25:08] Permanerd:
Let's make it happen. Yeah. It is a fantastic product. If you're on the fence about it, just do it, and you won't regret it. I have it every day. Awesome. It's great. I'm up to my neck in cacao.
[00:25:21] Oshi:
I've got boxes and boxes. And the rich get richer. Something like that. Speaking of of shipping,
[00:25:27] Permanerd:
did you wanna move into the personalization of orders?
[00:25:32] Oshi:
Yeah. Definitely. Because I know this is something I've always done before Oshi stuff. I've always when it comes to shipping orders to people whether I would say with the exception of maybe when you sell something on eBay or to someone that you don't know and it's just some random, not random but just thing you are just selling to get rid of and it's not a hand crafted product to a customer. That's the difference is if you are crafting something, making something whether it's a food or a three d printed gadget or quilt or whatever and especially if you're on Noster, put in a thank you note. Say say thank you. You could write it literally just on the invoice. You don't even need to have a piece of paper to a separate piece of paper to write it on. And you can be as brief or as long as you want but man, it it really it really gets to me when I I receive a product for someone that I literally pay Bitcoin for and they hand make it and I open the box and I am stoked to see it and there is no little thing of thank you. I am just someone that is so grateful for whenever I make a sale or I really think that's the cherry on top. You put in all your effort into this thing that you make and you're not gonna put in the last three seconds of effort to think about the customer there to you know, get a little piece of your proof of humanness as I call it. Like it's just, you know, it goes a long way and so I just definitely encourage it. If you're if you're making a product or you're sending even a gift to someone and they didn't even buy it, you know, just just write two words, thank you. It takes three seconds and this whole thing of, oh well, you know, I don't have the time because you know, there is 500, there is 200 orders to pack today. We don't have time because I have heard that from a couple of people. I am not going to call them out but I have heard that. And I think, well, I mean, you're you're in Bitcoin. You understand Bitcoin. What remember low time preference? Like, hello, you know, you're gonna just give up on that last little cherry on top kinda finish for the customer? I don't know. I don't buy it. I've, you know, I've I've said thank you. I've handwritten thank you notes 748 times in the past year. My wrist doesn't hurt. You you can do it. You can just say thank you. It it goes a long way. So it really grinds my gears. Reference to Jack Mallers and his podcast. He has that little funny segment, what grinds my gears. This grinds my gears. So you guys just do better. Do better. No excuses.
Honestly Yeah. It really does. It really, really does. Yeah. I also
[00:28:16] Permanerd:
include a note in in all the packages that I send. And I just have basically, they're they're business cards that are for a a printer. So they're just blank business cards that you can print or whatever. And so I just I just tear those up and write a little message on on the card and put it in the box along with a with a sticker. How long does that take you to do? It under a minute. I mean, it Okay. I I usually write three or four sentences. So but Yeah. As we talked about before, I is slow, so I don't write so good.
[00:28:55] Oshi:
Oh, man. Me either, dude. I you've you've probably seen my note. I've got chicken scratch as hell. But it is it is a nice touch, and it always is always nice to receive.
[00:29:06] Permanerd:
And I think that I think, yeah, I think people generally especially in this community. I mean, it's that whole you know, a lot most of the the orders are people from people that are on Nostrad. And Mhmm. You know, Nostrad still, to me anyway, has that that small town feel where everybody knows your name. You know? When I when I get on I've been using Wisp as a daily driver for Noster lately. And whenever I open it, I just feel like I'm walking into Cheers. You know? And that the and Noster has saved me a a stool a at the bar.
[00:29:44] Oshi:
Yeah.
[00:29:45] Permanerd:
It's a great analogy. And the the beauty of it is that, like this podcast on Noster, you are the algorithm, so you can keep it however you want it to feel. It doesn't have to get it doesn't have to get too big and and cumbersome like a Twitter where it just a fire hose of nonsense spewed. At least it used to be. I haven't been on there for many, many years. Same. And it's just just there's no garbage filter, whereas with Noster, it it is whatever you want it to be, whether it is that, you know, Downtown New York City on Saturday afternoon or that, you know, rural farmers market on a a Saturday morning.
Well, however you want it to feel, you can make it feel that way. Mhmm.
[00:30:33] Oshi:
Definitely. One more note on the thank you notes. It's, you know, because we're all because I really focus in on just the Nostr and Bitcoin kind of merchants kind of things. It's you know, I think you know, stay humble, stack sats. It's like yeah, you be stacking the sats but where's the humble? Like, write the note. Write the note. Write Write the fucking note Damn. Grinds my gears too. Yeah man, you're all fired up, I love it. Because it's honestly my favorite part. It's honestly my favorite part. Maybe it's just, I don't know, I just have this feeling of gratitude every time an order comes in because they don't have to spend the hard earned sats they have on my stuff.
Know, they don't have to do that but they want to and it's just very kind to do that and you know, I have a bunch of respect and friends that have sent me stuff without the note. And if you're listening to this, you know who you are. We are no longer friends. No. I I I just write the note, guys. That's it. That's it. Write the note. Write the note. Even even on, like, the box itself inside or something. Be be fun with it. That's, you know, that's my thing. I I always try to have fun with it.
[00:31:50] Permanerd:
This is a maybe a terrible analogy, but it it makes me smile too when, you know, we've got a seven year old son, and and if we go into Costco and you're walking out and and whatever they're doing with the receipt at the end when before you go out. And most of the people, if he's with me, they'll turn it over and they'll draw a smiley face or, you know, some other little trinket on there. Yeah. And it just makes me smile. Like, just that extra Yeah. Extra ten seconds of of acknowledgment.
[00:32:23] Oshi:
Yes. Yes. Like, that's the spirit that is inside me for for the longest time, but that's that's great, man. I I that's me. I I definitely try to promote that. I think it's I think it's so important and it's fun, know? And and if someone says, oh, well, we don't have the I don't have the time. What are you talking about? What's what's four seconds of your life to I don't know, man. It's easy. It's easy. There's no excuses. Unless people just don't want to do it. They don't care and be as they may. I'll write the notes.
[00:32:55] Permanerd:
So, yeah, that's you a could write us a note as well Mhmm. On Noster. Or email. We got that email that is, getting pretty lonely. It's getting so lonely.
[00:33:09] Oshi:
So so lonely. What what's the email address again? Say hi@youarethealgo.com.
[00:33:16] Permanerd:
Maybe I should make a a different one. What what is a good if anybody's listening and you have an idea for something better than say hi at because I have I like that. Yeah. You know, it's Or just keep it you could just say or have it as hello hello at,
[00:33:32] Oshi:
but it's essentially the same thing. I think say hi is pretty fun. I might have a catch all set up as well, so maybe anything
[00:33:39] Permanerd:
at you are the algo might come through. So Cool. Even better. But, I mean, I would I would much prefer a note on Noster or
[00:33:48] Oshi:
a boost on whatever platform you're using. Yeah. Was there any questions that came in? I know we went through that section already. But I don't recall
[00:33:58] Permanerd:
Yeah. Any questions. That's all good. Maybe there's one about whether they should put notes in their their packages that they sent out.
[00:34:09] Oshi:
Apropos. Yeah. Oh, speaking of, the reason why it prompted me to highlight this for this talk is I got another box of coffee grounds from my good friend, Satoshi Coffee, who we should probably use as the market square later. That's that's a good one. Yeah. Shout out shout out Satoshi Coffee. I got another package from him in the mail, he had a little sticky note. Just like, you know, thanks, Oishi. That simple. And I appreciate the hell out of that. Let us know
[00:34:39] Permanerd:
what you think about personalized packaging and and notes inside of of package. I'd actually be interested to see how many people I would imagine most people would think that it's that that it's nice and they would like it. But is it do they do people care? Do you guys care if it's in there? Yeah. Let us know. Who does it and who doesn't? I definitely know who doesn't.
[00:35:04] Oshi:
I'll keep that list to myself. But I still love them. I still respect them. Just write the note. Just write it. As I strangle you. Wow. Because I'm kind, you know? That escalated quickly. It's all good fun. It's all good fun. Relax. Relax. Trying to think what else what else we got. Baseball? We're talking about baseball? Yeah.
[00:35:29] Permanerd:
We won. We had a doubleheader. The kids Yeah. The kids it's called the prospects team, but we went drove an hour and a bit and had a doubleheader on Sunday and won both of those games. So that was that was fun. We've got a a pretty good team, I think, with my limited knowledge of youth baseball. Yeah.
[00:35:52] Oshi:
If you won both doubleheaders,
[00:35:54] Permanerd:
they're well, pretty interesting. Because they have two teams. They had the the the red team and the blue team. And we played the the red team first, and I think we won 14 to nine or something in that game. And then the second game, you know, there's a forty five minute break in between. And then the second game, we played the blue team and won seven to one. But I'm pretty sure that about three quarters of the team of the red team just took off their red shirts and put on blue shirts. But, yeah, it's the it's our other regular house league team don't even know how to say it nicely.
[00:36:35] Oshi:
Abysmal? Or yeah. Abominable? Abominable
[00:36:42] Permanerd:
baseball? Abominable baseball. And yeah. That
[00:36:46] Oshi:
yeah. It's it's it's Yeah. I remember playing baseball when I was younger. I I really enjoyed it. I I was telling you before how I was always the quickest one on the team, so I would always switch out with the the guy on base. It's like, yo. Oshi, get out there. It's like, alright. I'm down. I I love running because I would always score. I would always come in and slide in, and it was a great time. Yeah. That was one of the kids last night, we had a game and just got annihilated.
[00:37:12] Permanerd:
And we did we've done one practice of sliding sliding. Because Because if in this league, like, catch when you're going in to home and if there's going to be a play, it's I think it's pretty much any base. But if there's gonna be a play, you have to slide. Otherwise, you're out. Like, our catcher got You have to? Yeah. In this, yeah, in this league, you have to slide. Like, it just our catcher actually got steamrolled by one of their players, last last night. But one of the kids you know, these are it's under nine is the league. And one of the kids I told I was coaching third base, and I said, okay. If if it's hit on the ground, you're going, and then make sure that you slide when you get home. He said, I don't know how to slide. I've never slid before. Well, we we slid at practice last week. I don't know how to slide. Well, you're a kid. Just slide, dude. Just get down. Right? Just just fall. I don't know. Whatever. Just Get dirty. Exactly.
Oh, man. Are they allowed to do, head first slides? I remember when I played that wasn't allowed. No. You can't do head first slides if you're going forward. If you're getting back to a base, then you can slide head first. Oh, okay. That's weird. Wow. Yeah. So that's I don't know. The rules are crazy, and then the other league is a bit crazy. And and we're doing we've gotten into player pitch now as well. So the the games are four innings, and so now it's two innings of of player pitch and Oh. Two play two innings of of the pitching machine.
Mhmm. So our team is crazy because it's two you gotta be in this league for two two years, and our team has exactly two players players that are second year players. And so the other team had, I don't know, like seven or eight of their players are second year players. So it's just No. Well, that's not fair. No. It's really not. Even though the opposing coach, like, this is not equal.
[00:39:08] Oshi:
Nope. It's really not. Sounds sounds pretty Fiat to me. That's pretty Fiat baseball. That's Fiat.
[00:39:15] Permanerd:
And one other thing I wanted to to shout out was a newer neighbor of ours, he he does pottery. And so he has, this week, taught, our kid how to how to spin pottery on a wheel. Cool. And so shout out to Bjorn. He I was talking to him today. I haven't really talked to him that much since they moved here. And he is a game developer, and he put out he's got a game on Steam called Space Boots. And it What's that on? What's that? What what is that game about? I don't really know. It's it's pretty colorful and it looks pretty fun. I haven't had a chance. It was just right before we started that I Yeah. That I learned about it. So if you're if you're interested, Space Boots on Steam. It's Canadian $10.49 right now, but maybe it goes on sale. But, yeah, give it a go. He's a he's a good dude, and maybe it's something that you're looking for. Yeah. I I used to be pretty
[00:40:22] Oshi:
I was never too deep in the gaming world. I I started with had a Nintendo 64 thing, and I got a PlayStation one, which I still have, which is super cool. But I was always into like racing games, driving simulators or flight simulator games. That was always my vibe. Oh, nice. Yeah. Like the the Gran Turismo series. I don't know if you've ever Oh, yeah. I think those are sick. They're so cool. I've always wanted to play the latest one. Was it Gran Turismo seven? It's yeah. It just I don't know. I love racing. I love competition kind of thing like that. Not so much the RPG stuff. I don't know. I've had Call of Duty and things like that, but
[00:41:01] Permanerd:
it doesn't keep me. I don't know why. I used to play a lot of video games and, yeah, the Nintendo 64 playing, I mean, hours and hours of using illicit materials and and playing Mario Kart and double o seven Golden Eye. Yeah. I like playing that too, So this many so many wasted hours on that. And then I was I nerded out with World of Warcraft for a while too.
[00:41:29] Oshi:
Oh, yeah. Yeah. Absolutely.
[00:41:31] Permanerd:
Love that. But now we, every once in a while, play a game called Hunter Call of the Wild and go shoot animals. Was that on computer or is that on That's on Steam as well, which Steam? Yeah. Which is just a cross platform buy at once game store. I don't know. They also have it's like a Nintendo Switch. So they have their own little gaming
[00:41:54] Oshi:
console. I was gonna ask. Okay. That's pretty cool. Because I you know, it's new to me. I
[00:41:59] Permanerd:
don't know a whole lot about it, but it's Yeah. I know that it I remember It's not Xbox or PlayStation.
[00:42:06] Oshi:
Yeah. I was a big fan of the PlayStation kinda console. I remember when the PSP first came out, I was waiting for that thing for the longest time because I thought the design of it was so cool when I finally got one and played it for I don't know five months and never touched it again. But I just think the design of that is so cool and now they have the what is the Nintendo thing? I haven't kept up with it. The what is it? The Switch or something? I don't even know. Yeah. It's the Switch. I'd I've never never played it. I think there's Switch two maybe now.
[00:42:38] Permanerd:
But, yeah, that PSP was sweet. I had one of those as well. Right?
[00:42:42] Oshi:
Yeah. It was really cool. I love the the back end, how you can just put in the disc and it just, like, would pop open and so slick. Wish I still had it, actually. Kinda reminds me of, collecting, you know, as time goes on, collecting cold storage devices. Just having like a little collection of those for historical purposes. Yeah. Nice. I think I still have I think the first one I ever got was the what is it? One of the first treasures, like the really simple one. Model model t. I honestly can't even remember what it is. But, yeah, it'd be really funny just to make a a collection of them. I use the cold card q
[00:43:20] Permanerd:
now for the main driver. It's so cool. I love that thing. Yeah. I don't even I'm I have a a cold card. I don't know what which one it is, but it is Yeah. There's the mark it says it have, like, the larger buttons on it. I don't you know what? It looks like a small calculator, but I never I never touch it. Right? I only it's pretty much a one way flow into it, and I just use Sparrow to Smart. To send into the wallet. Yep. I Love love Sparrow. But speaking of of collections of things, I think I have every Raspberry Pi that's been made
[00:43:56] Oshi:
except for the the five. That's cool. I remember when I started looking into, building a node, which I ended up just getting a start nine server. I was contemplating on doing the Raspberry Pi route, but I don't know man. I just didn't have the time. I wanted to get up and going so that's pretty cool that you you have all those. It's a good little collection there. Well, I'll save this for another time but I have
[00:44:19] Permanerd:
a a history of installing computer labs into rural schools in Myanmar and the entire computer lab being built with Raspberry Pi. So maybe we can we can talk about that some other time if you want. Yeah. Yeah. That's a story and a half. That's sick. So I was just looking at the the because the game that I played the most probably on the PSP, it was a game called Patapon. And I don't know if you ever No. Played No. It was it's a rhythm based game. You probably would've dug it. For me, it's just my rhythm is white.
And the but What do you what do you wait. What do you mean by that? Means I have I have none. Yeah. But Patapon is it's a rhythm based game, so you kinda have these these little little characters. And and to march them into battle, you have to you have to tap the the buttons. And it's kinda like a pat up, pat up, pat up on Yeah. I think I have seen that. Yeah. It's it's a pretty sweet game, but that's the only one I remember really on the the PSP.
[00:45:29] Oshi:
I honestly can't remember mine. I remember it came with I think it came with like the Spider Man movie or something. Some God, I wish I still had it. Wish I still had it. My memory sometimes is just so awful, but maybe that's a good thing. It just leaves room for
[00:45:46] Permanerd:
current Yeah. Current things. My memory has definitely been corrupted as well. Yeah. Yeah. I need to I need to defragment my hard drive. Yeah. Need some more RAM. Yeah. Exactly. Where do I put this? Oh, you'll find a place. Yeah you'll remember.
[00:46:01] Oshi:
I don't know. But I was having a conversation actually with someone about this very thing about memory and you know it doesn't really bother me too much that I can't remember particular things. I mean obviously I remember some really old things for some reason but I think just just allows more room to just be present. You remember the more important things in the moment and I think that's all that really matters. I think the things that we forget tend to be, I don't know, maybe not that important.
[00:46:30] Permanerd:
I don't know. Yeah. I I I'm the same way. Like, my wife remembers things from when she was five and, like, all all these things. And she's like, oh, do you remember any of that? I'm like, I have no clue. Like, I'm Yes. But I think that, you know, I think that maybe this is what I tell myself anyway. It's it's a way to to deny dementia. So what I what I tell myself is that I've already processed those things and learned from it or taken, you know, gleaned from it whatever I can. And so Mhmm. Therefore, it is the first thing that that gets recycled into new neural pathways.
Mhmm. But it might just be That makes sense. Might just be dementia.
[00:47:14] Oshi:
So wait. So you're a dementia denier?
[00:47:17] Permanerd:
I am I'm neither here nor there. I refuse to answer that question. Do you think the earth is flat to me? I don't know. What are we talking about? I don't remember.
[00:47:27] Oshi:
Yeah. Exactly. Asphincter says what? You've seen Wayne's World, though. Oh, yeah, man. Come on. That's right right up my alley. That's one of my favorites. Yeah.
[00:47:40] Permanerd:
Definitely some sort of pork product. You smell bacon? That was
[00:47:46] Oshi:
It's one I need to rewatch. Speaking of movies, the last movie I watched was Life of Brian, one of, like, Monty Python films. I like what was the other one? The Monty Python and the Holy Grail? I thought that one was Oh, yeah. That's the I think that's the pinnacle. For sure. I I think I can't remember who recommended me to check out Life of Brian. I thought it was pretty good. There's some good funny bits in there, but I think the holy grail one, that's just so good. It is the holy grail. So good. What is your favorite color?
Blue. No. Green.
[00:48:21] Permanerd:
At the end of Troll Guys. So good. So many good Yeah. There really is. It's just a little bunny. Look at the fangs. Alright. It's only a flesh wound. It is not your arms off. It is not. It's right there.
[00:48:39] Oshi:
I showed that movie to my girlfriend. I don't think she liked it very much. Well, not not everybody's perfect. I think she fell asleep, actually.
[00:48:46] Permanerd:
Alright. I've got a movie recommendation for anyone that hasn't seen it. Oh, let's go. It's called The Castle. The Castle. It is a 1996 flick out of Australia. And if you don't like it the first time, watch it again. If you don't like it that time, watch it again. If you don't like it that time, well, then you probably should see a doctor.
[00:49:08] Oshi:
Or you can watch it in reverse. Perhaps. Would that help? Might help. But While listening to Ozzy backwards?
[00:49:15] Permanerd:
It's one of my favorite favorite movies. Never heard of it. Yeah. It's pretty abstract here. But it's there's an Caught it. Got it. But yeah. Check check 20 it sets.
[00:49:30] Oshi:
Maybe I can find it on remember that video link? The u n d b whatever and then that Russian link that I sent you? Yes. Maybe I can find it on there. Vid source, I believe. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'll check it out later. Definitely. I think one movie that I would recommend that I watched fairly recently that a buddy of mine on Noster actually recommended me to watch is Perfect Days. Have you ever seen that? It's kind of more of a silent Japanese film. It's basically just like the life of this janitor guy. It's really it's a really beautiful film. There's not a lot of dialogue in it.
Perfect Days. Definitely check it out though. Cool. That's another thing that
[00:50:10] Permanerd:
we you can spam us with with movie recommendations. Chill it. And all of our all of our the entire editing and production crews and pubs will be in all of the show notes. So just check on the show notes, and you can find us on Noster and send us a message. Mhmm. And that is exactly two of us. Or three. You wanna count the guitar? Oh, and one thing I wanted to mention as well is that I apologize for the sound for the last episode. It it went downhill quite quickly. I apologize.
[00:50:49] Oshi:
That was my bad, wasn't it? Well, I don't know. The
[00:50:52] Permanerd:
sound went very quiet. I mean, I am at this point, I think that we should just probably blame Logues for his weed eating in your backyard.
[00:51:04] Oshi:
Yeah. Yeah. He it was him. It had to be him. We'll do better on this one though. You know, sound sound design is, I don't think, either one of our fortes,
[00:51:18] Permanerd:
but I think we should do better. We should. We should. I'll I'll try to figure out a way because it's just it's difficult to find that that hour to listen to the whole show plus the editing part.
[00:51:31] Oshi:
I don't think it's so much needing the whole hour. I think the levels were
[00:51:36] Permanerd:
yeah. Anyways It seemed to start off okay though. Like that I didn't notice it at first and then it just sort of dropped off.
[00:51:42] Oshi:
Yeah. Well, it takes six episodes to get it right, you know? That's right. And I think we're both recording this time so we should be good. Oh, the meter's moving, and it's on my phone. Nice. Never ever will that happen again. Knock on wood. Cool.
[00:51:59] Permanerd:
So before we leave, we wanted to give a shout out in the Market Square, which is the the area, the time, the place of this podcast where we want to bring as much recognition as we can to another Bitcoin vendor. And this week, we want to bring up Satoshi Coffee. And yeah. So, I'll let Oshi discuss Satoshi.
[00:52:32] Oshi:
Satoshi Coffee. You know what's really funny? Is that I was never really a coffee guy until I met this guy. He's a great dude. We met at the guy who runs Branta. We met at his house and his coffee grounds are awesome. He really turned me on to introducing more coffee stuff into the huddle butter and but, yeah, definitely recommend. He's Nostril only. I think he's Bitcoin only as well. He's got a few different variants to check out. And, yeah, Satoshi Coffee, check him out on Nostr. I can't remember his website URL, but, yeah. Great great guy.
[00:53:11] Permanerd:
Cool. Send tell him that Yada sent you. We
[00:53:15] Oshi:
gotta get them a promo code.
[00:53:17] Permanerd:
Yeah. That's interesting. I don't know if anybody I mean, I we don't we're not doing this necessarily for a promo code, but we're also I don't think either of us are ones to turn down sats. Or I mean, it's more just, at this point, just to say hello. Right? This is this is us sending a note a note to Satoshi Coffee that we are thinking of them and trying to promote their product. Mhmm. I definitely use it. I support it. I had some today.
[00:53:49] Oshi:
And speaking of, I just made some more coffee crunchy huddle butter, which I use, Satoshi coffee grounds for that. It's actually quite quite delicious I will say. Again, was never a coffee guy which is the funniest thing to me and here I am making this coffee ground pecan butter. It's really really good. It's my favorite. And since I'm talking about the shop stuff, made some more original creamy huddle butter so that's in stock. I think there's three huddle bars, the banana one. And then I've got this new t shirt kind of voting thing that is going on. I'm wanting to maybe print a new kind of piece of merch, Oshi merch. I kinda sketched out a logo, hand drawn logo thing. So if you go to website, a little pop up will come up and you can cast your vote on your favorite color.
I think the voting ends on Sunday. So, you know, check it out. Help me decide on the color. I think the graphite gray one is the leader, which is pretty cool because it's the one I kinda wanted to have anyways. But, yeah, that's that's my shilling of Oshi stuff for now. At oshigood.us? Yeah. Oshigood.us is the website. And then nostril only. No x, no Instagram, no Facebook. Nostril only, baby. No problem. No x, no Facebook,
[00:55:16] Permanerd:
no Instagram, no problem. Easy. It looks like Sats Satoshi Coffee is is sats.coffee, which is a pretty sweet u r URL.
[00:55:27] Oshi:
Sweet. Yep. Cool.
[00:55:29] Permanerd:
And I'm at Permanerd on Noster. Also noster only, and sats, the number4snacks.com. I think I've got everything except for comfrey salve in stock. I just sent out the last two actually, I I'm going to be going to the post office after this to drop that off. Thank you, Pam, if you're listening, and support local coffee, Mhmm. Support local Bitcoin businesses or even not local Bitcoin businesses. Just support people that you want to and that have quality products using quality money.
[00:56:11] Oshi:
Yep. And say thank you.
[00:56:14] Permanerd:
And say thank you, and don't be fiat.
[00:56:17] Oshi:
Yeah. Definitely.
[00:56:20] Permanerd:
Alright. So until next time, Oshio, play us out, and just remember that you are the algorithm.
