In this episode of the YADA podcast, Oshi and Permanerd finally bring you “episode 2b” after a legendary technical mishap—doubling down with backups and plenty of laughs about our epic fail. We unpack the show’s mantra—You Are The Algorithm—and our value-for-value approach, inviting listeners to return whatever value they feel they received via notes, zaps, or simply listening. We share transparent analytics from our Podhome.fm hosting, shout out early boosters, and introduce the “Like'um Jar” to curb our filler words—funds destined for a community-picked cause. We also riff on playback-speed nerdiness, favorite music from Pink Floyd to Rush, and the beauty of discovering independent artists via value-for-value platforms. The core of the episode dives into practical, sovereign Bitcoin commerce. We compare our setups using BTCPay Server, Lightning channels, Alby Hub, and self-hosted stacks on Umbral/Start9, plus simple storefront approaches (iframes vs. API-driven sites), channel management, and fee-savvy flows to cold storage. We explain Nostr for newcomers—portable identity, relays, and zaps—and why protocols beat platforms. We spotlight tools like Helipad for live boost tracking, Obsidian for note workflows, and share ideas for a website, live “um” counter, and public Lightning balance display. We close with community invites for guest chats (builders, shop owners, creators), notes about what's in stock at our shops, and a reminder: you are the algorithm—reach out, boost, and let us know where you’re listening from.

Our world is chaotic, but life found its way by channeling energy to bring order to chaos. It is in our nature to seek signals amongst noise because it is through communication and exchange that we evolve beyond the darkness of chaos into the dawn of civilization.
[00:00:27] Unknown:
Hello and welcome to the YADA podcast where YADA stands for you are the algorithm. I am Permanerd and this is episode two b which stands for to be or not to be is the question. And I am joined by my good friend Oshi who will maybe explain the numbering a little bit more.
[00:00:51] Unknown:
I yeah. I recorded last time. I hit the record button but the EQ just wasn't registering for whatever reason. So my bad, I'm recording now and also on my phone, so I've got the backup for us in the event that something miraculously happens. So I think we're good to go.
[00:01:10] Unknown:
Alright. So sounds good. We had that last we recorded the entire episode and it was fire. It was. It was just good. It was pretty good. I know. I've got a sound for that actually. I think it's this. Oh, did I? Never mind. Epic. It was an epic fail sound which Alright. The epic fail sound for Your turn. Epic fail sound. Your your yeah. Your turn to fail this time. Just blow it up. Exactly. We've been recording for three years and we haven't quite got episode two done yet. Technology, man.
[00:01:41] Unknown:
It's a hit or miss it's like Claude sometimes he's up sometimes he's down.
[00:01:46] Unknown:
So the the you are the algorithm title just comes from that that you are the algorithm and and you decide whether you want to listen to this podcast, if you want to contribute to it, if you wanna hit record before you start to to create a podcast. I mean, it's it's kinda up to you. Or to or even just to make sure your EQ is going. Yeah. All these things. All these things. And so that is the purpose of or I mean kind of the the mantra I guess. Would you say that's the mantra of this podcast? I'd say so. And one of the other aspects of it is that it's a value for value podcast, which just means that we're going to record. We're not going behind any firewalls.
We're not, having any tiers. You don't have to pay money to be in a premium tier. But we do ask if you could just re return any value that you feel like you received, whether that's an email. I mean, just listening is value to, reaching out to us on Noster or sending us boost via any podcasting two point o apps such as Fountain, Podcast Guru, and if you go to the podcastapps.com, newpodcastapps.com, something like that, you'll be able to find a list of of podcasting apps which allow for chapters and and value for value payments which are in the form of Satoshis which are the smallest increments of Bitcoin that you can have. And so, yeah, that's what that's what the value for value model is. Solid. Alright.
What we did last time in the Canadian version of number two which was two a was go over the the analytics for the show as well. We thought we would just keep it transparent and so they've changed slightly since then. Basically, we are Yeah. Where we at from the last one? Because I Last think episode we recorded no one was due because it's not out. Oh yeah yeah. We're good in. But we're we decided to to host on podhome.fm just because while it was it was recommended by David Bennett of the Bitcoin and pod Legend. Legendary.
And it so it has it's hosting the the files so it has I'm assuming fairly accurate download numbers and and statistics. And so the for the first episode, we're at all time downloads 266 Nice. Which is from 244 unique listeners and what are they? The top players are 37% Apple Podcast, 35% Domus, which is kinda kinda mind blowing, really. Yeah. It's weird. And then 22% for Fountain, a bunch of 1%, point 3%, Antenna Podcast O Matic, Podcast Pod Home. Podcast addict, which surprises me because it I've used Podcast Addicts for I used it for many, many, and I think it's the best podcast player that there is, except that he won't implement boosting
[00:04:58] Unknown:
and value for value. What makes it better than the others? I mostly use Fountain personally.
[00:05:03] Unknown:
It's it's fast. I just like the interface. I mean, I've used it for probably Mhmm. Twelve years. Now I'm using Fountain because you like the option to boost and to have it all. Before I was using Podcast Addict and then I'd open up Fountain to the podcast I was using and boost from there. And it allows for playback speeds of seven. Wow. Which is ridiculous but I I like to go about 3.5.
[00:05:29] Unknown:
Fountain doesn't doesn't go up that high. You go 3.5?
[00:05:32] Unknown:
Normally,
[00:05:33] Unknown:
yeah. Wow. What the hell?
[00:05:36] Unknown:
That's crazy. I did do a lot of stuff, man.
[00:05:41] Unknown:
I'll have to try that. Usually I'm listening at like 1.5 or two but no more than that. Well, that's how I started. Right? It's a it's a gate
[00:05:49] Unknown:
1.5 is the gateway drug. That's crazy. Why are you talking even slow man? I
[00:05:59] Unknown:
realize you could like,
[00:06:01] Unknown:
put it up that quick. That's crazy. In Fountain it'll go, I think they go up to three. I had been in contact with with Oscar who would lead. I don't know if he even develops on anymore or if he's just kind of the fountain guy and he said that they would go up higher but I think after after three x, it I don't know what if what the algorithm is or what but it seems to fall apart on most players whereas Podcast Addict has a pretty good a pretty good multiplication.
[00:06:30] Unknown:
Interesting. Yeah. I'm gonna have to give that a whirl later. See how it goes. See if my like brain blows up.
[00:06:37] Unknown:
I tell you one thing, it's really hard to listen at at one x after the
[00:06:41] Unknown:
Yeah. I'm sure. I'm gonna try listening in like another language too and see what happens. Nice. Nice.
[00:06:48] Unknown:
Just like then it goes Oji's brain. And then there's 93% on mobile, 6%. And oh, yes. The dreaded Apple iPhone has 81. Sorry. Android's only only 9.7. Really? Wow. Great. 2.6 for a Apple iPad though.
[00:07:08] Unknown:
Really? Wow. That's some crazy numbers here. Especially the dumbest one. I don't understand how you can play podcast within dumbest. I I would have to look at that. Yeah. No kidding. I'd great. That's cool though. I mean, it's it's amazing. Damas for anybody doesn't know is
[00:07:23] Unknown:
Noster client which is on iOS. Mhmm. But I thought that they were doing an Android too. I don't know if that's live or. Yeah. I thought too. I'm not sure what happened to that. Maybe it is out. I have no idea. And then the the top countries, I don't know if it The United States by far, then Canada, United Kingdom, Sweden, Australia, Switzerland, Puerto Rico. Super. Nice. Hey, that's great. What
[00:07:52] Unknown:
language is that?
[00:07:54] Unknown:
That's Canadian man.
[00:07:57] Unknown:
Hey. Hey.
[00:07:59] Unknown:
You like eggs? I know I know one thing in Swedish but age Oh, well, alright we'll save it. So yeah those are the those are the the stats pod home. Let us know if it's something that that you're interested in or if we're just babbling on. Or just let us know where you're listening from. Leave it in the comments or something. Don't know. Absolutely. And and and give us some some good phrases to learn how to speak. We'll start speaking. What else? Serbian? There's a Serbia on here. Oh. France needs to pick it up. They're at the I've been to France. I wasn't a fan. Went to Paris. Okay. Alright. I've been to France once. I was at a party in Germany, we walked across the bridge. And then we were in France and the beer was back in Germany so we turned around and went back the other day.
Those cheap bastards. Yeah and then there was there's been there's been a few people that have that have boosted us the the first episode and undisciplined was the first one with a 100 sats and the message was I'm so excited for this. I was on the verge of starting a second podcast just to interview the likes of yourselves which is nice. Well, Quantum Entanglement.
[00:09:13] Unknown:
Nice. I have no idea what that Something of that? Sounds good. Yeah. Yeah. Quantum stuff. Have you ever read And then didn't he? Oh, go ahead. Go ahead. Sorry. No. Sorry. There's a little bit of a delay, guess.
[00:09:24] Unknown:
Have you ever read Dancing Wooly Masters? No. What is that about? It's an overview of new physic. So it kind of is a this guy, Gary Zukoff is his name, and he isn't a physicist, but was friends with physicists, was interested in it. He learned about it and wrote a book, pretty layman's terms, about quantum physics, string theory and stuff. Cool. Yeah. I'm in I'm into that kind of stuff a little bit. Nice. The book is a bit it's a bit dated. I mean, think it's from the seventies. Quite interesting. Cool. Yeah. I'll have to look. And the the next boost was by by Filu?
Filu? Filu? Filu? Sweet Sats. Sweet Sats. Absolutely. And that was for 1,010 Sats and it was a GFY which which I I believe is is good for you is what I'm Yeah. It's good for you. Yeah. Good for you. Way, thank you and I mean you can tell us whatever Go you
[00:10:21] Unknown:
go good for you.
[00:10:22] Unknown:
Yeah. Yeah. I gotcha. And then there's a eleven eleven by Eric FJ and it says subscribed which is awesome. And I just listened to he has a podcast with Synced I think. Mhmm. And I listened to it and you mentioned both of us in their first Yeah. I listened to that. It was it was quite interesting about sort of the and I said, I'll get to that later. Uh-oh.
[00:10:51] Unknown:
20. 20. That's right.
[00:10:53] Unknown:
The it it's about decentralized commerce Mhmm. I I believe is kind of the the foundation. Agentic commerce? Yes. Well, yeah. I guess. I don't know what that word I'm not sure. It's more of like, you know, just Claude shopping for you.
[00:11:09] Unknown:
Or chattypety. AI shopping. Yeah. So that you don't have the enjoyment of supporting your local merchant, which is honestly weird. But, you know, some people are lazy, I guess. I have no idea why you would ever want that. Oh, no. I don't know. I said, I'm sorry. I'm trying to get 40. 40 sets. That goes into the Jar, which again, we'll talk about a minute, I think.
[00:11:33] Unknown:
The name of their podcast is Open Markets Podcast. And that it's pretty good. I liked it. Mhmm. And then Chad f boosted. Congrats on episode one, and he sent $33.33 sats, which is a, yeah, great boost. Thank you Chad, you're a lead. It pays for our domain.
[00:11:50] Unknown:
Almost.
[00:11:51] Unknown:
Yeah. Almost. And then that's the thing is we are Pot Home does cost money. I think it's $15 and so I think if I'd be happy if we got enough boost just to cover expenses, that would be awesome. For sure. That would be. That's an accomplishment.
[00:12:05] Unknown:
It would be an accomplishment. You gotta go for small
[00:12:08] Unknown:
base hits, you know. Okay. You're breaking out all these team terms that I am unfamiliar with. You know, like RBI, you know, baseball. You got baseball in Canada? Oh, there you go. Yeah. I'm actually coaching it. It starts up again on Tuesday. Oh, nice. I played baseball for years. Oh, nice. Yep. Yeah. So we're doing coaching under nine division. Machine pitch? We'll probably start the season off, but the goal is to be pitching by the end. Cool. Heck yeah. We'll see. It should be good. And then there's a 210 sat boost from me that says test.
Okay? Uneventful. Unevent that's right. I'd like to thank myself for this boost.
[00:12:52] Unknown:
I'm proud of Canada.
[00:12:55] Unknown:
Undisciplined with another 100 which says for the jar which we decided to start in the first episode because we want to get our ums and other filler words troll. Likes.
[00:13:08] Unknown:
It's a big one. Like, yes,
[00:13:11] Unknown:
all these words that do not contribute actual conversation. Yep. And I have an tracker going from the first episode where you took the lead 11 to seven in the category and we decided to create an jar which will be I'm thinking some sort of sub wallet on Albie or a lightning wallet of some kind which we're both throwing 20 sats per per and then we'll throw this 100 sats from undisciplined in there as well and our goal is to generate enough sats and figure out where to donate them to. Mhmm. And so if anybody has any ideas on that to hit us up because it would be nice to find a good a good cause to send some stuff. Maybe
[00:13:58] Unknown:
some of the developers or I don't know, maybe do like a giveaway kind of thing. That's
[00:14:03] Unknown:
great actually, yeah. Well, so any ideas hit us up. I had to to count the ums because Podhome they take out ums, they they create a transcript but they take out the apparently. So I couldn't count them there so then I created a a whisper AI which is a I guess it's an open source Yeah. Transcriber and so I created that in in a docker container and then ran it through there to get the to get the numbers. So I'll be doing that after every show that that we both hit record on. So. Never gets old. No.
[00:14:41] Unknown:
You gotta have fun with this stuff. Absolutely.
[00:14:44] Unknown:
And then the next boost is is from my good friend Ivor Tola on Noster and he sent 500 sats and he's a luddite that doesn't even know what Bitcoin is so I'm not really sure where he got these sat. But thank you IVOR. And then this, I'm not really sure what this is. I'm I'm looking at on fountain for these messages, fountain.fm and this is a you were it looks I don't know. It's from you but it looks like you're re Yeah.
[00:15:16] Unknown:
I don't know how or why it does that but I noticed that as well. Noticed that as well. But this is from Zalgabar
[00:15:23] Unknown:
Mhmm. And it says take a listen to the podcast. Great job on your first one Oshie and Permanerd. Looking forward to more. And so thank you for that message. I don't know. That must have been on Nostr? Yeah. Definitely. Cool. And then we got one since the the last mishap from Gray Ruby for a 100 sats. There's no message. Thank you everybody. It's Yeah. Awesome. Thank you. And we very much appreciate it. And And I I wanted to bring up another another app which is called HeliPad and I'm running it on my Umbral server and it's put out by Dave Jones who is one of the podcasting two point o pioneers and you just put it on and then point your wallet at or it it automatically sees your your wallet, and then it picks out the boost as well. That's cool. And so that's another way to to keep track of your boost if you're interested. Give a shout out. Are you able to connect, like, on chain as well, or is it just Lightning wallets? For boosting?
[00:16:24] Unknown:
Mhmm.
[00:16:25] Unknown:
It's as far as I understand it, it's only Lightning wallets. Mhmm. And maybe
[00:16:30] Unknown:
cashew or something, I don't Yeah. Yeah. I was just curious. Someone wanted to send like a thousand dollars worth.
[00:16:38] Unknown:
Sure there's plenty of people chomping at the Oh, yeah. Yeah.
[00:16:42] Unknown:
Yeah. For for my mishap, you know, they wanna, you know, contribute to that. Yeah. We need to get some money to buy OSHA equipment that actually records. Hey. My button broke.
[00:16:55] Unknown:
Well, I mean, when we get a website then we can just unchain Yeah. Address there. Just like a public one, yeah? Yeah. That's rounds out the the value for value section which we should get some some fun drops. I don't know if people like sounds,
[00:17:13] Unknown:
but I'm kind of a geek that way. Just make stupid noises in podcast. Yeah, man. We gotta put them in live. We gotta get that working. Or we can just do like funny mouth noises.
[00:17:24] Unknown:
Nice. It's a zap. Perfect. Thousand dollars worth coming in. Well, that's actually something that you can do with with helipad too is you can have sounds when a boost comes in and so live shows, I know podcasting two point o the their podcast and, bowl after bowl Mhmm. With, Spencer and DeLorean they you can listen to it and they have bowling pins crashing whenever people lives at or boost. That's true. I forgot about that. It's a great podcast too. It is. Yeah. Those guys man, they can go they go for three or four hours each week. Yeah. It's amazing. They've been doing it for a while though as well. They have. Plus they probably like each other so it's easy. That's true. That's true. And I forgot to mention that the music, we're we're a little bit discombobulated I think this week just from the tragedy that struck last Sunday. We've we've been trying to do this show, well we kinda set forth to do it on 1PM on Sundays which is PST the only legitimate time zone and and so now we're we're going on a on a Thursday morning at ten.
01:30 here. But that's not a legitimate time zone. I think we already established that. Yeah. You're right. That was a illegitimate statement.
[00:18:47] Unknown:
I didn't say anything. Null and void. I'll edit that part out. You don't need to.
[00:18:54] Unknown:
It didn't exist.
[00:18:56] Unknown:
There's nothing there. My EQ went out.
[00:18:59] Unknown:
The I forgot to mention, I'm having issues with I have a it's called SoundDucks which is an open source soundboard and so I like to play music at the beginning and it's not it's not working but I will add the music in post and it's going to be a song called Dawn by Tip NZ and I found it on ellenbeats.com so that's a great place value for value music. You know, it's things you're not going to hear on the radio but there's some there's some really excellent The radio. I can't remember the last time I even listened to the radio.
Oh, know. That not even I really can't. It's probably about the same time I went to a movie. Oh,
[00:19:38] Unknown:
that's actually when was the last time you went to a movie theater? And what was the last movie you saw? Do you remember? I don't remember what movie it was. It was it was in Kona, Hawaii
[00:19:48] Unknown:
and I remember walking to it and and getting getting mad dogged by by some people in a car just walking to this movie.
[00:19:59] Unknown:
But I don't remember what it was. I think the last one I saw, this was years ago. Whenever IT two came out, It I two. I didn't even know there wasn't It two. I think it was. It's like the the newest one of It. Can't remember. That was a few years ago though. Or was it mid summer? Long time ago. Yeah. I just have no no I mean with having a seven year old end up going to movies but I don't know it just seems like they're all pretty well garbage at this point. Yeah. How much is a movie anyways? It's probably like what $20?
Probably. Popcorn's probably like 15.
[00:20:34] Unknown:
Yeah. Fuel up here is $2.50
[00:20:37] Unknown:
which ends up What? No way. That's I think I saw gas the other day for what was it? $3.79 here, which is nuts because two weeks ago it was $3. But the straight of Hormuz, man. Yeah. Or something. Yeah. Exactly.
[00:20:55] Unknown:
Or or Who knows? Corruption and else.
[00:21:00] Unknown:
It's all the same.
[00:21:02] Unknown:
One thing I did wanna mention is with that with the music we'll put a split in for for tip n z so any of the boost that come through here they will get a percentage of those directly into their wallet. There's no Nice. No middleman. That's cool. Spotify is not taking anything. I think even Wave Lake, do they have some sort of
[00:21:23] Unknown:
VIG? I think they do. I know I've got some of my stuff on there but I'm pretty sure that they do unfortunately. I think Spencer over at Bull After Bull has talked about this. Yeah. Absolutely. Know they're big into this kind of, you know, podcasting or music
[00:21:41] Unknown:
hosting kind of thing. Definitely. With the value for value and self host it, you know, you using Mhmm. An RSS feed which you control Right. And then having your own your own lightning wallet which which all of the the boosts come directly to your there's no middle. Pure. And this is the only hiccup I have about going with Podhome is giving up that control of the RSS feed Mhmm. Which maybe, I mean, that just being I mean, decentralization
[00:22:09] Unknown:
is the key and so pretty central pod home Mhmm. But Well we'll we'll see. If it works for now, I guess just keep using it. Absolutely. What's the alternative?
[00:22:20] Unknown:
Well, the the way that I that I host my other podcast that I do once a while seems, but I mean, that's all. I have the the show is basically hosted on IPFS podcasting. This show is not being hosted on And so I use pCloud, which is just an online storage, and I take the original m p three file and put it on on my cloud storage. And then IPFS podcasting picks it up, and now it's stored there. And so that download there's only one download from PeakLab and all the the podcast players, they refer to the RSS feed which is created by IPFS podcasting and now it's pulling the files from there. And so hosting is virtually free.
Mhmm. And then I just host my RSS feed on a public file in p Did we ever clarify what the downloads actually are? Are are they just plays or? I don't know. That's something to to look at. If anyone knows, let us know. With with Pod Home in particular because there's another one and it's called o p c, I think. And but it if you add o p three to lead as a prefix or something like that, I'm probably butcher. But now now you're you get a statistic from from them. They're running I don't but it's kind of a I think it's kind of running through their server for downloads.
Mhmm. And so that's another way to get open source stats.
[00:23:54] Unknown:
60.
[00:23:56] Unknown:
True. 60.
[00:23:58] Unknown:
Non non k y c sats. I don't see that right now. Get that on the exchange. Oh, I I haven't even heard you say it. Yeah. I'm pretty good. I got my sticky note here that says do not say f like and then the s word but Ben Jusman gave me the okay for fug them. So I can say that. I think maybe Yeah. Just fug them. You can just fug them. Can you say fug off? Or is that I'm not really sure. I I think I think fug them sounds more fun to say. Has more like flow, know. Fug them versus bug off. It's like more sharp, know. It's a little more playful for Yeah. Fug them. It reminds me of when I was in Japan a couple years ago. There there would be, you know, the the people there just wearing t shirts with, you know, kind of funny English words on them. I don't think they understood what they said half the time on their t shirts. It was just like cat or just some like funny plain English word. It was like the funniest thing I've ever seen. So I I could see it as like you know having fug them on a shirt. That would be a Fug them. Maybe a good name. A podcast. Yeah? Or Or just this episode. Or a band. True. Fugazi, fuck them.
Speaking of bands, what's your favorite artist?
[00:25:18] Unknown:
Oh, it's a fairly boring choice I
[00:25:23] Unknown:
I am very partial to Pink. Oh, nice. What's your favorite album?
[00:25:27] Unknown:
Oh, that's like choosing your favorite child. Mhmm. There's yeah. I don't know man. I enough of this already. 80. Oh boy. You're like I'm writing it down. Tracker, live Tracker. There's a oh, what's it? It's sort of a sequel to The Wall, the final cut Mhmm. And that's one of my my favorite, but it's also a bit esoteric, not a lot. I think I like
[00:25:55] Unknown:
what? Is does that like count?
[00:25:59] Unknown:
I I don't know how to say it. It? 20 for you, buddy. Oh,
[00:26:03] Unknown:
damn it. I think it's pronounced metal? Yep. Yeah.
[00:26:07] Unknown:
That one, I love that album. It's a great album. It has Saint Tropez on it. They reach for a peach, slide around our behind, the sofa in Saint Tropez. Boy, hope we don't get copyrighted for that amazing rendition. Oh, no.
[00:26:22] Unknown:
Alright. We gotta stop recording. Undo. Oh, We're always Oh, about to e q is going.
[00:26:29] Unknown:
Nice. Good Metal metal's great. Animals is great. The wall is great. Pink Dark Side of the Moon is great. Mhmm. Yeah. There where did they do that live recording in in Pompeii
[00:26:42] Unknown:
or whatever? Live from Pompeii. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:26:45] Unknown:
Pretty incredible. Yeah. I love David Gilmore. He's such a legend. With the with the the dog, we had a dog like that when I was growing up, the basset hound. So there's a part in in one of the songs, I was in the kitchen and shame is that's the dog was outside. Oh, yeah. And this dog is live and it just starts howling. So so brilliant. Yeah. Yeah. What about you? My
[00:27:10] Unknown:
oh gosh. If I were to stay in that era, I would say Rush. Okay. Canadian. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Sure. Toronto. Yeah. My dad I mean, I grew up on Zeppelin and Pink Floyd and a bunch of other, like, jazz stuff, but Rush for sure. Because my family's from Upstate New York, so very close to the Rush boys. And, yeah. Other than that, I was actually thinking about my top five list today. I would say Rush and, believe it or not ACDC for sure, man. Like, those guys for three chords, those those guys are nailing it. Like, man. And then and then I would probably say it's a Japanese band. It's called Toe, t o e. Check them out. Really amazing stuff. All instrumental.
They're from Japan and then Sounds like a t shirt. Toe. Toe. It's right next to the cat t shirt. Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. Amazing band. I saw them in Brooklyn a few years ago. The stage was like in a circle and all the people were like around it. It was really really amazing. And then if I were to say one more band, gosh. This band called Piglet. Another instrumental. These guys are from Chicago. Amazing. Lava Land. Look up the album Lava Land. Alright. Yeah. It's on Bandcamp. If you ever poked around on Bandcamp, it's a pretty good website for finding just
[00:28:40] Unknown:
any kind of music really. Nice. So Yeah. It's good stuff. I'll try to give it a listen. Yeah. I'm I'm very eclectic when it comes to music. So the Pink Floyd and I mean in the top five are also probably Garth Brooks. I don't know Biggie Smalls or Snoop Dogg. Nice. Nas is always a favorite. I didn't really listen to much. It's more
[00:28:59] Unknown:
Illmatic, amazing album. Nice. I had a buddy that got me into all that stuff early on. There's another Blue and Exile. It's another great artist duo. What is the album? I think it's giving my flowers while I can still smell them or something like that. Nice. Really really good. There's just so much music out in the world. It's crazy. It is and and that's one of the cool things about the the value for value model as well is that you don't have to you don't have to have an hour or a record label or anything like that.
[00:29:31] Unknown:
Mhmm. You know, even what we've got here with some fairly simple recording hardware. You know, you can do it in your I mean, it's the same with with podcasting where it's sort of the last bastion of free speech uncensorable speech as long as you again have control of your RS then it can't really be taken. Mhmm. Yeah. Yeah. Especially in tandem with Noster using that. And Bitcoin as the And Bitcoin. Triangle. I mean, the the most the most stable form is it's the most stable,
[00:30:04] Unknown:
stool is a three legged stool. Yeah. That's why the number three is so significant. Oh, nice. Yeah. I mean, it's the, you know, it's geometric form, know. You have the dot, the line and then the triangle. So that's why Rush was amazing. That's why all three piece bands are amazing. Or three chord bands is apparently what you're Or three exactly dude. Nice. Sick. Yeah. There you go. Three is the magic number. I was in a three piece band. Couple of them. Oh yeah. What were they called? One was should I say the name? No. I'll keep it under wraps. Oh, keep it Yeah. It was fun though. Toured around The States, did that whole thing. Was it Rush?
Sorry. You're what I'm supposed to say.
[00:30:46] Unknown:
Alex is gonna kick my ass. Yeah. I didn't mean to dox you.
[00:30:51] Unknown:
No. But seriously, three piece bands are are the best. They're my favorite. Especially instrumental. Never really a fan for like lyrics. I don't know why. Maybe it's just a guitarist thing, but Possibly. Yeah. I mean, I I I don't listen to music that much more. I'll put it on, but usually if I have Mhmm. There was a
[00:31:10] Unknown:
another it was undisciplined again, which is both a NIM on Noster and kind of the way that we both roll, at being undisciplined. But the they had asked about wanting to know a little bit more about, Bitcoin business. Mhmm. And I know we had gone into it in the the previous iteration of podcast number two. Two a. But since that is not the the light of day, maybe we should go over that again. Yeah. Yeah. Definitely. You wanna you wanna go first? Oh, I'll I'll let you go first. Okay.
[00:31:44] Unknown:
Well, let's see. Where do I wanna start it? Oh, yeah. I think I was talking about my setup. Right? So I use the main crux of it is BTCPay and I run a node. I have a start nine server one that I run everything on and it's a pretty lightweight application. What what is it? Is it an application? What is it considered? BTCPay?
[00:32:08] Unknown:
I guess so. I would say so. Mean I it's Yeah. A program, an application. Yeah. It's used for you know accepting payments and setting up storefronts
[00:32:17] Unknown:
and you can do a lot with it. It's pretty lightweight but I have that where I actually put my shop items, I price everything there and then I built rebuilt the website that I have currently. And so all the products there that you see are are being pulled from or being pushed from my BTCPay server. And the channels, I have a few Lightning channels that I run-in my node so it's pretty self sovereign setup, know you're not going through like oh no, I said it. You're not going through Squarespace or Wix or Shopify or any of those other centralized you know, shop fronts which you're welcome to use but for me my my whole thing on what I'm doing is really to support Bitcoin like I really, you know, I I don't know. It's like a no brainer to me but so that's that's kind of the basic setup. I got a few lightning channels and when those start to get full, I swap out to just on chain and it's really easy. I remember first setting up my lightning channels. I actually spoke with Spencer from Bull After Bull. He he helped me out a lot and yeah.
The the whole thing with channel balancing and all that stuff, it's so easy. You know, when when your channel starts getting full, you just, you know, just swap out back to on chain and that's it just goes back to your cold storage for safekeeping. But and then everything just balances back out. I think I maybe have eight channels open, something like that. Sometimes, I think it was Megalith that opened one recently to me for 9,000,000 sats or something or some some crazy. But I'm trying to think what else. You use BTCPay as well, don't you though? I do. I have a
[00:34:01] Unknown:
mini PC, which I've been running for several that's the thing with with Umbral or Start9 is that they they have an offering for a pod or a hold on. So that was awesome. And they have a an offering. The hardware Mhmm. Is fairly expensive for what Now. For what it is. I'm not saying don't support them, but I am saying you can run their software on your own hardware. And so this is a mini PC, I don't know, maybe a $100, and it's running Umbral. And then on Umbral, I have a full Bitcoin node, a Lightning node, BTCPay server, and HeliPad, which we talked about earlier, and a few other applicate And so you, I believe, are using the API, which is an application programming interface in order to pull information onto your website from your BTC Pay server?
Mhmm. That's right. Okay. So what I'm doing is it also when you create items and your your store in BTC Pay, it creates what's called an iframe and Mhmm. That is just a chunk of software code HTML code which you can put into any HTML file which is a basic web development file
[00:35:27] Unknown:
type of file. Yeah. You can just embed
[00:35:30] Unknown:
it somewhere on the website. Exactly and that's what I'm doing and and I talked about pCloud earlier and also I'm doing is I have a static HTML file on being hosted in a public file on pCloud and then just pulling in that iframe. So your when you're using the API, you can definitely you know, you have more more options and just more you can be more creative with the website whereas you use the iframe and you can't really edit anything within the iframe. You can't change colors or change the the structure really.
And so you're stuck with that but it's a really simple way and you don't need to worry about a server connected to it in order to make the API calls to propagate your website. You just put in the iframe and it's just there. So that's what what I have going on and then the orders come in through there and are immediately processed whether on chain you know you're gonna have that that ten minute or whatever ends up being wait time. Lightning payments because that's another thing that BTC pay does is it allows for lightning or on chain payments and I think you can even do other crap coins as well if you want to but Yeah.
[00:36:48] Unknown:
Yeah. I think so. I I I actually tried to link Monero to it but I don't think they have that plug in ready yet because they were they were working on it before but that's something I tried to do. Well, that's a a good point about this type of software as well is that they I mean people in this space are busting their ass. You know whether it's Nostril or Bitcoin,
[00:37:08] Unknown:
it's just amazing how much how much development is going on. Mhmm. And and, our friends at Branta as well, you know, there's there's always updates going on with them, but maybe we could talk about Branta next episode a little bit. Yeah. But the then with the online or the on chain or the Lightning payment so the BTC pay server has its own Bitcoin node integrated with it. And so the on chain goes there, but then the Lightning, have connected to AlbiGo or sorry. AlbiHub, which is also being hosted on the same mini PC. And so those are wallets which I control. So the lightning payments go directly to there. And then like you said, once the once the, channels get filled up, they just move over to a treasure one, I believe it is. Mhmm. And and I found a good way to do that now is I use ShakePay for, DCA ing, and so I have a small daily recurring Bitcoin purchase on there and they just started allowing for Lightning, moving Bitcoin with Lightning and so I can take from Cool. The Albie Hub, send it over to the shake pay and then every month they have you're allowed a free on chain transaction.
Nice. And so then just take it over there and then I can move it to cold storage and not pay any fees through the transaction except for you know the whatever minor charges are. Right.
[00:38:40] Unknown:
Yeah. Yeah. I think think River does that as well. They allow you one free,
[00:38:46] Unknown:
you know, kind of like pull out. Yeah. There's it's interesting the the differences between Canada and The US and just that I don't think that we have river up here you know and some True, yeah. I forgot you're in Canada. Oh man, it's it's nuts just the the amazing differences between not only the the number of people which you know obviously affects market but just the the availability of products and and software. Why is that? Well there's this the 49th Parallel which is this imaginary line which divide the communist Canada and fascist United States.
[00:39:29] Unknown:
Oh, that line, man.
[00:39:32] Unknown:
Yeah. We gotta we gotta abolish the line. Yes. But then there's also, you know, there's a lot of intricacies that come with that as well. That along the lines of globalization just kinda what the push is for. So you gotta you gotta watch out for that too because then everybody loses their sovereignty. That's true. Yeah. Well, enjoy Canada then. Yes, I will. Thank you. And the tariffs and although they're cheaper now. They are they are a bit but it still just makes for I mean, you know, you've you've sent stuff up here and and just the the complicated
[00:40:06] Unknown:
nature of cross border shipment. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I'm sending something to Norway later after this. Oh, nice. Yeah. Shout out Anders which was it was interesting. He asked me if we'd ever do, like, interviews with people, which I think would be fun. Oh, absolutely. Yeah. He was mentioning that he he's wanting to open up a shop, like, start, you know, something that we're doing for Bitcoin on Oster, and he was thinking about, you know, selling some coffee, honey. He I guess he has some like mountain bike kind of stuff rentals that he may do, which is pretty cool. But, yeah, it would be cool to talk to him or anyone else that is thinking about opening up a shop or has a shop or would be fun. For sure. I think
[00:40:49] Unknown:
I wouldn't mind getting a few more under our belt to get a little more Yeah. A little That's what I was thinking as well. Little more functional. But I I'm more than happy to to shout shout it out and if anybody has anything that they want us to mention on here, you throw it into a boost and we'll say just about anything. Yeah. You boost it, we'll say it. Yeah. Unless it's on Oshi's list of words not to say and if you you throw in some ums into your notes then you have to throw some money into the tip jar or some sats in there. 20 sats? 20 sats per We need to get that up and running. I think you said that you would take on the website part? I think so. Yeah. I think I can handle that. We gotta make a list of things that we kinda want, like features and yeah. I think it'll be pretty simple. An tracker.
[00:41:35] Unknown:
Tracker. An a live tracker.
[00:41:37] Unknown:
That would be pretty crazy. I don't know how that would work, but Well, was thinking about it. I I just three d printed a new case for my kid's lightning piggy. Nice. I forgot you do that. Yeah. Absolutely. It's it's actually got a jam somewhere in there right now. I'm hoping I have enough time today to take it apart and find where I think a piece of filament broke off. But the the only reason I mentioned that is because I have a sub wallet in Alby set up for that lightning piggy. Mhmm. And so it's pulling the information and I think it might even just be through Nostril Wallet Connect. So I think we can probably have a running total of a of at least an Albie wallet or something on the website. Mhmm. And maybe if there's somebody that's smarter than us list I'm sure most people that are listening are smarter than us. Oh, yeah. But if anybody has any ideas on how to get the the balance of a Lightning wallet displayed on a website, we'd happy to hear about that too. Yeah. That'd be cool. That'd be really fun. Maybe
[00:42:42] Unknown:
the Daniel out there. I was talking to him earlier. He bought some bars, but he's a smart guy. There's so many other guys on Noster, girls on Noster that are probably more capable than you or I to figure that out, but
[00:42:56] Unknown:
we're open. Yeah. Absolutely. Yeah. Just that's part of the value for value proposition is any communication is very much valued and appreciated.
[00:43:09] Unknown:
Mhmm. Oh wait. Didn't we talk about you went on we both went actually on a trip last week. Not sure if we wanted to talk about that because I dropped the ball on that one.
[00:43:22] Unknown:
Yeah. I don't I might be over over that. That was so last week. So last week. We ate clams. Look on Noster, we'll put the N pubs in the in the show notes and you can check out our trips.
[00:43:36] Unknown:
We ate clams. I'm sorry.
[00:43:43] Unknown:
You mean you dug them yourself? We self dug clams and then proceeded to self cook them and self eat them. I had oysters
[00:43:51] Unknown:
that week too. That was a I wish we recorded it but People just never know. They'll never know. I had oysters and I went to a mining facility, a bitcoin mining facility. Yeah. That was also an interesting conversation that we had. Yeah. Oh, well. People won't ever hear it.
[00:44:08] Unknown:
I feel like you need to tell people what Noster is for anybody that doesn't that doesn't know Oh, as well. Man. From from the non dev?
[00:44:16] Unknown:
Gosh. What is Noster? Well, it's a protocol. It's much like Bitcoin. It's what actually, what's really interesting about Noster, which fascinated me when I first learned this, is unlike conventional, you know, social media applications like Instagram and Facebook, what's really cool is you can take your social graph, your followers, your content and plug it into other Noster clients as they're called. And all your followers come with it, all your posts go with it unlike Instagram say you were to get banned or you wanted to open up a new account or something, you'd have to start all over. But with Nosser you're able to retain all of those pictures, those notes, those comments that you left and that that really was impressive to me. I remember that was I've been on Noster for maybe a year and a half now, which is crazy. Maybe a little more, but that really is what got me. And then like, you know, the Zaps, of course. So the Zaps are just a Bitcoin integration into
[00:45:18] Unknown:
Noster. So you can you can do the the likes and the hearts and whatever type of emoji you want to to respond to somebody's. They're called notes in Noster, but you can also send a Zap which is sending you can send one Satoshi you want which would be less than a penny, much less than a penny. And and so you're you're actually putting your your 2¢ in or your 2 sats on something. And what you were saying about how your your identity carries carries over, you know, you don't even have to you don't have to upload anything to a new client, it's all it's all being stored on different relays And I actually just started my own relay as well just to Cool. It's just archiving my own notes. I'm just kinda messing around trying to figure out, trying to understand it a little bit more. But when you upload a note or a picture, it is stored on several different relays generally.
And so therefore, you can just take your cryptographic key pair, which is basically your login and it's the same with NOS or with Bitcoin. So you have your NPUB and your NSEC which is your public and your secret code and you could just take that anywhere and once you once you log in to somewhere or something whether it's a website or iPhone client, a Android app then it's just populated. It's everything that your all your settings are stored on relays as well and it just just works. One's really cool is like there's a bunch of different clients as well. There's, you know and they all have different kind of features. Your content is displayed a little bit differently. So that's all really cool as well. Yeah. If you don't like one, you you try it and you're like, God, Nostril sucks. I don't like it. It's clunky and you just delete it from your phone and put on a new one and try it out. And there's there's several to choose from.
And as as you said it is a protocol like Bitcoin or like HTML or not HTML but SMTP for you know sending emails. You don't have you're not locked in with email. Right? You can take your email, you can check it from whatever ProtonMail or from whatever Windows AOL. Yeah, exactly. And you can or you know Firebird and and so it just it it travels because it is a protocol. It's just a way that the different applications you know it's standardized to where other applications they all know what the information is and then what you do with it is up to you. Mhmm. Yep. Super cool. Bullish on it for sure. Absolutely.
And I've been actually, think I'm coming up on three years this month that I've been Three years? Almost. Wow. An old man. Tell me about it. Tell my back hit my back. Tell my back that. It already knows. Tell my back.
[00:48:20] Unknown:
Give my back some sides.
[00:48:22] Unknown:
Oh, man. You know what? This is such a a great episode, but it it's just nothing compared to the one
[00:48:30] Unknown:
When are you gonna stop rubbing it? Woah buddy. Man. Let's keep it peace. That's not what I meant. Can see, yo yo, the kids listen to this. Don't rub it in man. I messed up. Never again. Never again. You know? Sometimes you just need one. You just need one, you know, big mess up and hopefully you learn from that. Many people don't, but I do. I'm glad we got it out of the way early. Definitely. It's it was good. You know, episode two, I'll mess up on episode two and never again. And
[00:49:00] Unknown:
I say that. I say that. Yeah. That's what I was gonna say. So what happens if you do? Man, that's like that's like, oh no. I just said two of those. I'm gonna start tracking likes too. Should we just throw likes into the jar?
[00:49:15] Unknown:
Are those gonna be 40 sats? Is that work? Is like worse than
[00:49:19] Unknown:
Oh, that's a good I I think that I think maybe they're they're co conspirators and they should both be 20. Mhmm. But I think that we should Maybe it should be the lycum jar.
[00:49:30] Unknown:
Oh, the lycum jar. That's the lycum butter. The lycum jar. Yeah. Man. It's gonna pay for our domains one day. Wow. But that's not going to us. You gotta, you know, you Oh, yeah. That's right. That's Reveal
[00:49:47] Unknown:
the secrets that we're actually gonna steal it, run away to Puerto Rico. Yeah. Yeah. We're funding it for A trip to Bitcoin be Yeah.
[00:49:56] Unknown:
Definitely. Bitcoin Beach where, you know, Bitcoin happens.
[00:50:01] Unknown:
That's a it sounds like a t shirt as well. Bitcoin happened. Bitcoin happens on Bitcoin Beach. You know, the one that Forrest Gump was wearing? Poop and poop happens. That one is Bitcoin happens. True. Yeah. It would be. I mean, that right there can can make somebody a million Satoshis.
[00:50:18] Unknown:
So this Maybe that should be our first t shirt. Bitcoin happens. The Yada Podcast. Nice. Absolutely. Let's do it. I've been working on
[00:50:27] Unknown:
I've got one shirt. I mean, I've had so many shirt ideas in my life that are just gone to the because I'd write write it down or or find a way to make it real. Mhmm. So I've I've been I've got a
[00:50:38] Unknown:
design up with a a shirt like a drop ship shirt company. So I'm hoping to get that that out. There you go. That's an important point though to when you have a good idea, you just write it down. There's been times where you know, I'm lying in bed trying to go to sleep and some idea just pops in my mind and I've made it a habit to get out, get out of bed and write it down because there's been times where I didn't do that and the idea was gone the next morning and I can't even remember what it was. Yeah. Absolutely. It's like a dream. Oh, this is I'll so never forget this. Mhmm.
Psych. And it's gone. Yeah. So I I I have sticky notes by my desk. So I, you know, write things down all the time, slap them on the walls, slap them on my desk. Always a reminder. I take notes in Obsidian now, which is an extremely powerful
[00:51:30] Unknown:
mark down tool, which I mean, say mark down but it doesn't that part is irrelevant as far as being a being usable, but it's cross platform. I have it synced between my devices. And I'm actually have show notes for here for this show on here and the transcript which pod home generates
[00:51:50] Unknown:
and then I just copied that and I've got that in here as well. Wait. So how are you using that actually? It are you is Obsidian just like it's it's a standalone
[00:52:01] Unknown:
kind of application or are you using Yep. It's a I can't remember what their tagline is but it yeah. It's a note taking. It's more it's so much more than that though. You can you can use hashtags to relate different notes to each other that David on the Bitcoin and podcast did a good episode that you look up or there's some tutorials and I don't use nearly as
[00:52:26] Unknown:
much power as it has but it can create like mind maps and things like that from from your kinda tie things together. That's really cool. Yeah. I gotta look into that. I remember downloading it once but I just I don't know. My the mindset wasn't there for me to dive in and try using it but I I need to. Yes. It'll graph all your your notes.
[00:52:46] Unknown:
I don't I I haven't really done that yet and I I think that you can actually write Nostrad notes in there. It's got a ton of plugins. It has an amazing community list of plugins. So and that's that's free and I mean you can pay for their their syncing to where you can do all that but nerd that's the nerd part of perma nerd and first part's permaculture, the second part's nerd culture and so I use what's called sync thing and I just have a folder basically that I sync between my laptop and my and my phone. That's cool. It's a bit more set up but do things that I can easily break and then Yeah. You can just do things. You are the algorithm my friend and with that I think we're about an hour here. Yep. Perfect. Do you want to leave the lovely public with any information?
[00:53:43] Unknown:
Let's see. I'll be going out of town for a few days. I'll be back on the twelfth. Out of stock of everything except I have some Bitcoin beans cacao. I have a few blocks left. But yeah. Unfortunately out of stock of everything. But if you wanna check out the website, go to oshigood.us and poke around. And I'm on Nostril only so it's the only place that you can reach out to me.
[00:54:10] Unknown:
Other than that, pretty quiet on my end. Okay. Yeah. Check out his website. It looks it looks really good. Thanks. What's your website? My website is satsthenumber4snacks.com. And I have very limited quantities of the comfrey salve, which I will be maybe making some more next week. And then I've got pineapple in the freeze dryer right now and it should be done in package today and then that'll be back in stock. Other than that, if you're looking for some freeze dried fruit or an amazing comfy salve, I mean, we'll talk about that sometime. Maybe comfy is an amazing thing.
But, yeah, that's for snacks.com. And I also am on Noster only. That's under Permanerd and Oshi is under Oshi. Oshi. Oshi good. Is that what you have to look up? You can just type in Oshii but I yeah. It's Oshii good. And like I said, I'll try to remember to put the the NPUBS. I think they might I think they might be in the the show description. I think so. Yeah. If not, I'll I'll look up that and get that in there. And then, yeah, reach out to us on there or anywhere else with any recommendations
[00:55:24] Unknown:
just to say hi. Yeah. Let us know where you're listening from. Yeah.
[00:55:28] Unknown:
I will play the entire track called Dawn by Tippins following us babbling here at the end. And just remember that you are the algorithm. Yada.
[00:55:47] Unknown:
Our world is chaotic, but life found its way by channeling energy to bring order to chaos. It is in our nature to seek signals amongst noise because it is through communication and exchange that we evolve beyond the darkness of chaos into the dawn of civilization. World
[00:56:19] Unknown:
us too efficiently.
[00:56:20] Unknown:
Shape the world with with our our voice. Voice. Now Now let let the the market market speak. Speak. It's so we build. We sow. We trade. We grow to meet our wants and needs. We specialize to drive from the mind, our creations, into reality. We made progress in our process to get more for less advancing society. We fall forth dawn of the age of technology that harnessed the energy to reach prosperity. Our money embodies the power to reap what we sow, so the market becomes a channel for our collective energy to flow.
When value is traded for value, we are aligned and so we evolve. This is how amidst uncertainty, life continues to grow. But the dawn of tech gave rise to light speed information exchange. So to transact fast, we further abstract money from energy constraints and became more aligned on a few large entities to coordinate trade, concentrating the power, resources and authority to create more and more of our money, distorting its signals eroding its worth and throwing us back into the darkness of chaos.
When we destroy the mechanism of money, we destroy our ability to navigate through uncertainty. And when we can't trade value freely and directly, we must trust the few to govern the many. What happens when all our means center around an authority? Complexity builds, now coordination relies on conformity. Observe our thoughts, his sense of descent, and coerce our actions. Can there be true innovation when there's no freedom of expression? What happens to our voice? The ones that shape social discourse now whose ideas gets created and which problems get solved. Because our progress depends on hearing many sides to resolve. And then why would we suppress the voice that shapes how humanity evolves? When we cut off the perspectives that make up society, we lose sight of the truth that forms our entire reality.
Each person's contribution builds up our resiliency. Did we forget these differences are what strengthens humanity? When communication breaks, our words turn to silence. Our acts become violent, and the world is divided amongst darkness. Truth is twisted by our pain and our bias, eroding the common ground, making us more and more fragile. To navigate uncertainty, we must solve for robustness, so everything gets tried and tested by various efforts until we discover the system that best coordinates us, mirrors life's process of channeling energy to create signal from chaos.
In the era of technology, we transform energy into computational power to process the noise of free markets into structured order. And just by looking at numbers, we can derive how much power is required to reduce chaos and inscribe a flow of value for order verify that our transactions happened in line with shared rules. We don't need to seek trust when we can see proof. It is real time consensus that aligns us to evolve. This is how, amidst uncertainty, our lives continue to grow when we have a hold of our own rules. We preserve our own work and defend our own voice, which lets the true market emerge. The strength of the design lies in each of our participation since we are the nodes that channel our energy end to end. As we claim responsibility to uphold our own rights, we radiate the power that brings our truth into light.
And when that dawn of light touches all parts of the globe and it ripples throughout society and it returns us the hope that becomes the power that sparks humanity to thrive, that same power that fuels the creation of the mind. And when our mind and our money are truly set free and they transcend the limits of past boundaries, now knowing becomes owning and ideas become well. What happens now? We can all push to expand the edges of our existence. It is soon evolution when things are the hardest. As we head for the light, we have to push through the darkness. It is in these moments we do what we do best. We take the chaos in the darkness and use our power to create.
It is in these moments when we're all in alignment and our freedom of difference ascends us to our highest differences depth of it all. Know that hope is not gone. It is always the darkness before dawn.
