YATA - You Are The Algorithm

We decide what to talk about. You decide whether to listen. No set agenda. Just what we’re noticing, what keeps repeating, and where that leads. Like everything in your life, you decide your own algorithm. You are the algorithm.

This week, Oshi and I catch up on boosts, show stats, and a listener question that sends us straight into phones, SIMs, eSIMs, and privacy tradeoffs. We talk through GrapheneOS, Pixel devices, user profiles, Wisp, Amber, Silent Link, and the never-ending balancing act between convenience, security, and actually understanding the tools we’re trying to use. It’s a good reminder that privacy is a process, not a switch you flip once and forget.

From there we drift into off-grid connectivity, Starlink and solar planning, Tails, Sparrow, Electrum, Linux rabbit holes, Proton going down, local LLM tinkering, and the general feeling that everything in tech moves faster than anyone can realistically keep up with. We close things out with permaculture principle number six — produce no waste — and talk about loops, reuse, junk piles, compost, and how that mindset applies far beyond the garden. We also put out a community bounty for a new Yada podcast logo, so if you’ve got ideas, send them our way.
